PBS Vehicle Approval

PBS Vehicle Approval

by admin
Before obtaining a PBS Permit an operator requires a PBS Vehicle Approval.

What is PBS Vehicle Approval?

A PBS Vehicle Approval is used to gain a Road Access Permit. All approvals are obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR). These vehicles are assessed under the PBS scheme to ensure they are stable on the road and can stop or turn safely.

How can we help

  • Tiger Spider first simulates the proposed vehicle combination using proprietary simulation software (UM Truck and Trailer) to confirm if the vehicles passes the PBS Safety Standards.
  • After which in collaboration with the client/manufacturer, Tiger Spider engineers the PBS Design Approval and submits it to the NHVR, who will seek advice from the PBS Review Panel before issuing a PBS Design Approval.
  • Once done the PBS Design Approval is supplied to a PBS Certifier who physically inspects each vehicle unit (truck and trailers) to ensure they comply with the Design Approval.
  • And finally when the PBS Certifier submits the PBS Design Approval to the NHVR, ensuring the combination complies with all the standards a PBS Vehicle approval is granted.
